How we work.
Collaboration, transparency, security and partners at a glance. The answers to the questions purchasing and IT ask before a project starts.
Collaboration
Dedicated contacts, clear responsibilities, documented processes.
At upbyte®, you work with the same people from the initial call through to operation. We work directly, with technical depth and an understanding of the business behind it.
Dedicated people in charge.
Software, marketing, data and operations are interlinked. That is why we do not separate these areas artificially. If you work with upbyte®, you speak directly to the people in charge, without forwarding and without intermediate layers.
Project organisation.
Project management and architecture stay with upbyte®. For individual specialist tasks we work with long-standing technical partners. Who has access to which system is documented.
Cover is in place.
Responsibilities are shared across the team. If someone is away on holiday or off sick, a deputy who knows your project takes over. This is based on ongoing documentation of systems, processes and access details.
Structure before activity.
We first clarify processes, data, roles, interfaces and responsibilities. Only then do software, campaigns or automation follow.
No artificial complexity.
Where a small process is enough, we do not build a platform. Where a platform is needed, we build it properly.
Short decision-making paths.
We settle decisions directly with the people they affect and record the outcome.
What you can expect
- Owner-managed since 2005
- Focus on Germany, Austria and Switzerland
- EU hosting and data protection under the GDPR
- Dedicated teams, clear responsibilities
- Software and marketing in the same team
- The same contacts from the initial call through to operation
Few projects, long-term responsibility
Development, operation and further development belong together.
We deliberately support only a limited number of companies at a time and take on new projects only when support afterwards is secured.
Long-term, not as a sideline.
We take on projects that we can deliver properly and support afterwards. This includes dedicated responsibilities over the years and systems that we operate ourselves.
Operation after go-live.
After launch the system stays in our care. Monitoring, backups, updates and further development continue with the same contacts.
Capacity before orders.
Taking on a project also depends on whether we can support it reliably afterwards. If that is not the case, we say so in the initial call.
When we are a good fit
A good fit
- Individual or grown business processes
- Existing systems and data have to be connected
- Direct contact with the people in charge
- You want long-term development and support
A weaker fit
- Short-term one-off jobs only
- Standard services where the lowest price decides
- Pure supply of development capacity
- Projects where technical responsibility is to be handed over completely right after go-live
Transparency
Hosting, access, service providers, AI and documentation at a glance.
upbyte® works with client systems, data, infrastructure and marketing. Clients have a right to know how their systems are operated, who has access and which tools are used. This page answers the questions professional clients ask before they need to ask them.
Hosting and infrastructure.
Operation and storage currently take place at server locations in Germany, unless otherwise agreed for the specific project. Depending on the service, this includes hosting, web servers, databases, backups, email, interfaces or external services.
The specific providers and locations used are documented for each project and disclosed on request.
Freelancers and service providers.
upbyte® may use freelancers and technical service providers, for example for development, maintenance, support, administration or troubleshooting. They are contractually bound to data protection, confidentiality and security.
Overall responsibility towards the client remains with upbyte®, not with the partner. Read more under Freelancers and partners.
Access from third countries.
Technical or administrative access from countries outside the EU or the EEA may be necessary in individual cases. It takes place only where it is required for the service and a legal basis under data protection law exists.
AI-supported tools.
upbyte® uses AI-supported tools to support development, documentation, analysis and quality assurance. Personal, confidential or sensitive client data is not processed in external AI systems without a legal basis, necessity or approval.
AI does not replace decisions. It speeds up processes that a person controls and is responsible for.
Documentation.
Quotations, service descriptions, project communication, invoices and technical documentation are kept in a structured way. Clients receive the documents relevant to them without having to ask.
What clients can expect
- Clear contacts
- Transparent roles
- Traceable processes
- Documented foundations
- No unnecessary sharing of data
- No artificial complexity
Security
We handle access, backups and incidents with fixed procedures.
Trust in digital systems comes from clear access, documented procedures, technical safeguards and careful handling of data. At upbyte®, the management is directly responsible for security.
Access only when needed.
Access is granted only when it is needed for the task. Administrative access is used only for development, maintenance, support, troubleshooting or operations. Rights are reviewed regularly and withdrawn when a project ends or a role changes.
Passwords, second factor and devices.
Binding rules apply to internal and external contributors: secure passwords, sign-in with a second factor, up-to-date systems, protected devices and responsible handling of access credentials.
Backups and recovery.
Backups run automatically, encrypted and separated from the live system. Scope, frequency and recovery tests depend on the contract and the infrastructure used.
Security incidents.
Incidents are documented, analysed and turned into concrete technical measures. The lessons learned feed into procedures, access rules and backups.
If something fails, dedicated people in charge who know your system respond.
Fact sheet for purchasing and IT.
A two-page summary to forward internally: Security and operation at upbyte® as PDF (German).
No unnecessary external services.
upbyte® deliberately keeps technical dependencies to a minimum. External services are used only for a specific purpose and after active consent. Every external dependency is a potential point of attack.
Our principles
- Only the rights that are needed
- Second factor wherever possible
- Documented access
- Separate backups
- Encrypted transmission
- Clear procedures for incidents
- No unnecessary data paths
Freelancers and partners
Few partners, clear rules.
upbyte® does not build an anonymous network. We work long-term with a small number of selected partners who meet our technical, organisational and security standards.
International cooperation.
upbyte® may work with freelancers and technical service providers in Germany and abroad. The same requirements for communication, traceable results and direct availability apply to all of them.
Contractual basis.
Before work begins, roles, services, confidentiality, data protection, rights of use, IT security and reporting obligations are agreed in writing. Each partner receives only the access their task requires. Without a clear basis, there is no access to client data or live systems.
Data protection and confidentiality.
Freelancers and technical partners are obliged to maintain confidentiality, comply with data protection and follow our instructions. Personal data may be processed only within the scope of the respective work.
Responsibility stays with us.
If technical partners use their own staff or subcontractors, they remain accountable to upbyte®. Overall responsibility towards the client always lies with upbyte®, not with the partner.
What we expect from partners
- No sharing of access credentials
- Second factor wherever possible
- No client data via private messengers
- No private backup copies
- No confidential data in public AI systems
- Immediate reporting of security incidents
- Deletion or return of data after the contract ends
